Each dyed bowl is unique in color, and can never be duplicated, creating a special and unique piece.. A one of a kind piece. It’s physically impossible to for me to create a copy, or any one else for that matter.
The reason for this is that the colors are specially mixed for each bowl. One bowl will have 2 drops of red, 3 drops of yellow and 6 drops of orange. The next bowl might have 6 drops of red, 2 drops of orange, and 5 drops of yellow. Color selection and mixing is spontaneous, there for no 2 bowls are the same.
Also I’m able to turn 25 different shapes from platters to vases with different colors.
Each bowl is dyed then dried, then sanded and polished to 1000 grit. Then soaked in danish oil for translucence up to 6 days in a vat. The top coating begins with danish oil and polyurethane applied by hand, allowing 48 hours to dry between coats. Then finally finished with a coat of wax.Which is added to preserve the finish. Depending on the piece several coats will be applied.
All these steps go into producing a stunningly beautiful work of art. At present day I believe I’m the only one that produces this style of art anywhere.
Collectors are starting to become very interested in this art form. I discovered this one day while pondering over what to do about a piece of wood that was plain in character and in much need of some personality. The results were so beautiful I haven't stopped since!
